CONTROL METHODS USED BY IHP24

Understand the different control methods

The IHP24 range from Val Controls has the possibility to control the actuator using two methods. Usinf solenoid valves or proportional valves. Read more about the differences and advantages below.

The IHP24 can use 1-4 24VDC solenoid valves for control of the hydraulic actuator. The IHP24 is designed so it can use any solenoid valve on the market. The unit will automatically adapt the regulator to the performance of the complete system, during an automatic calibration. The positioner is also easily adapted to any already existing control systems or other designs.

The desired position of the valve is sent to the IHP24 via the 4-20mA control loop or a communication protocol. The actual position is measured by the IHP via a potentiometer or a 4-20mA sensor. The set point and position signal is compared and the actuator is moved to the requested position.

The unit will automatically adapt the regulator to the performance of the complete system, during an automatic calibration. The positioner is also easily adapted to any already existing control systems or other designs.

Using a proportional valve gives the possibility to change speed starting and stopping the actuator, it also gives the possibility to have a very precise positioning and a low travel time.
